J John has been drawing from an early age. However, it was not until a visit to his native Carribean island of St Lucia in the mid-eighties that he started to take art seriously as a vocation. He says he was inspired by his grandfather to take his "gift" seriously. He describes his work as falling into two main catagories, the highly detailed works and the lateral thinking/abstract work. His medium is pen and ink. Much of his work is composed in black and white. He says this is his black and white phase and his colour collection will follow in due course! His subject matter is wide and varied, from the almost obligatory "still life" to the more abstract and even outrageous compositions. | ||
